Bayers Road Baptist Church, Halifax, NS
"A church for people in all seasons and stages of life"

You can show God’s compassion in Haiti.

The death toll in Haiti now seems to be moving towards over 200,000 people. Thousands more are seriously injured. Earthquake survivors will face deadly issues associated with the lack of safe water and hygiene, food insecurity and the destruction of their homes.

The Government of Canada has established a Haiti Earthquake Relief Fund and will match donations dollar-for-dollar up until Feb. 12, 2010.

The Sharing Way

CBM’s relief and development department, has established a Haiti Earthquake Relief account in order to qualify for matching funds.

The Sharing Way will be responding to this disaster through several channels:

  • Baptist World Aid (which has already committed emergency grants of $10,000 each to the Baptist Convention of Haiti and the Haiti Baptist Mission)

  • Canadian Churches in Action

  • Canadian Foodgrains Bank

  • The French Baptist Union (which has Haitian churches in Canada).

In addition, CBM will support Canadian volunteer teams during the phase two recovery process starting in mid-February. Application forms are available on CBM’s website.

To assist with this emergency by making a donation:

  • write a cheque to The Sharing Way (not to the church), mark it "Emergency Relief: Haiti Earthquake,” and place it in the offering plate

  • contribute online at cbmin.org

  • phone CBM at 905-821-3533

  • or send your cheque to Canadian Baptist Ministries,
    7185 Millcreek Drive, Mississauga, Ontario L5N 5R4

Your gifts to assist with this huge need are critical. Please also be in prayer for our many Haitian brothers and sisters in Christ here in Canada who are deeply concerned for their family members and friends in Haiti.
